license vs master degree?

Postby Guest » Sat Nov 11, 2006 2:10 pm

Hi, I currently meet the requirements to sit for the exam. But I only have a year left before I complete my MACCy degree. Should I forego the degree (which will cost me about another $9k) and just start studying for the exam? My hesitation lies in the fact that the exam is rather tough and if I don't pass the exam in the near future, at least I'll have my degree to fall back on when I'm applying for jobs. I know companies/firms favor the license, but would I be risking a lot by not finishing my degree? I plan on going into industry, where a license, IMO, isn't as important.

A CPA certification and a graduate education would both be vary advantageous in your professional career, though the CPA certification will be MUCH cheaper to obtain.

Some employers prefer professional certifications and some prefer graduate level educations, but ALL employers would pick someone how has both over someone who has only one.

You could take that CPA exam either during or after graduate school. Either way, if you want to pass the first time I can help. I'm a training consultant with Gleim Publications. We specialize in CPA exam preparation. Call me at 1-800-874-5346 extension 246 and visit us on the web at http://www.gleim.com
